Hello Everyone
In light of the recent H1N1 outbreak affecting many of our communities, The Black/Gold League is recommending that effective Nov 2, 2009 all players will refrain from removing their gloves when shaking hands at the end of any ringette game. Instead the players are encouraged to keep their gloves on and acknowledge their opponents with a fist bump or high-five as they pass in their lines. Coaches should refrain from shaking hands and instead just high-five or bump fists with the gloved players and nod in respect to the opposition coaches and referees.
Coaches should also strictly prohibit the sharing of water bottles and ensure all water bottles are clearly marked with the athlete or coaches name.
Coaches, please remind your players and parents that they need to be responsible in their actions and if a player is showing any signs of illness, they should be sent home and remain home until such time that the symptoms have passed. We need to remember that this is just a game and as a league we are first and foremost concerned with the health and well-being of all our athletes.
