Hello All U10 Step 2 and Step 3 Hea Coaches, Managers, and Team Staff,
I trust this message finds you all well. As we are all aware, the U10 Playoffs are now underway this weekend, and will continue into next weekend. Please read my email carefully as the information that I will be passing along to you is imperative and will be enforced.
This is official notice and a reminder to all Black Bold League ringette members that violations of the BGL Operational Policies and the Ringette Alberta’s Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy will NOT be tolerated. Action will be enforced as per the BGL policies, as well as further consequences per Ringette Alberta policies.
Your association and its teams are responsible for the behavior and conduct of your athletes, team staff, officials, organizers, volunteers, employees, other Members/Participants which include parents, fans, and spectators.
Everyone needs to be mindful of the conduct and behavior that is being displayed by ALL. We are all responsible to speak up when other parents, coaches, or spectators are behaving badly or inappropriately.
As per BGL policy 1902 (listed below), there is to be an association representative present at each playoff game involving their association. This individual should also be responsible to deal with display of inappropriate conduct by its association’s parents, coaches, or spectators.
It is your responsibility to review the information listed below, as well as the links provided. Your team will be held accountable, and the BGL will deal with individuals who violate its policies and the Ringette Alberta’s Code of Conduct.
Please note, should the 2018 U10 Playoffs not be successful with respect to conduct and behavior, the BGL Executive and its Member Associations will consider the removal of the U10 Playoffs from future league seasons. Therefore, we appeal to your good sense and ask that you do not destroy what is meant to be an enjoyable season-end competition.
Yours respectfully,
Rhonda Kew, Webmaster and Statistician
- With the support of the BGL Executive

Re: Spectator Conduct
Just prior to the start of the first weekend of 2018 provincials, Ringette Alberta sent a reminder to our members and participants about the need to be mindful of one’s conduct. Unfortunately, some individuals have shown they are unable to manage their behaviour.
Some of the notable failures we’ve seen so far this spring include repeated abuse of on-ice officials and an officials supervisor, disrespectful comments by an official to a coach, calls from parents for their children to harm players on opposing teams, excessive cheers for goals by a team leading in a blow out game, arguments between parents in the stands from opposing teams and even an adult taunting an 11-year old child playing goal.
DID YOU KNOW?
Spectators are subject to Ringette Alberta’s Code of Conduct and Discipline Policy
Violations of the Ringette Alberta Code of Conduct we typically see include, but are not limited to:
When this happens, Ringette Alberta’s Complaints and discipline Policy comes into effect, specifically section 20.4.6 which allows a person in a position of authority to take immediate informal or corrective action. Penalties can include suspension from the current competition or event or any other sanction considered appropriate for the offense.
Unruly spectators can be excluded from the arena or facility. Failing to comply with the order to leave can trigger additional sanctions including forfeit or disqualification of the team associated with the offending spectators.
Group Members have a responsibility to inform their teams of the possible consequences and we ask that you do this immediately.
PLEASE NOTE:
All Officials Supervisors, Ringette Alberta Representatives and Provincial Host Chairs (or designates) present for the remainder of the 2018 provincial championships will be briefed on how to deal with individuals who violate Ringette Alberta’s Code of Conduct.
For the benefit of those who are able to enjoy our game responsibly, violations of Ringette Alberta’s Code of Conduct will be dealt with quickly and decisively.
